Blood clot 'from long hours at desk' An administrator who had to spend long hours at her desk has been awarded compensation after complaints to her employers were dismissed, it has been reported. Leicester administrative assistant Angela Lamberton was told by doctors that she had a life-threatening blood clot because of long periods sat at her desk, brought on by a change in routine and targets at her workplace, HM Revenue and Customs in Charles Street, Leicester. Staff no longer had to leave their desk to complete their tasks and, as such, Ms Lamberton complained to her line manager, who told her she had to abide by the new rules. Within weeks Ms Lamberton started to suffer pains in her legs and she had to receive emergency treatment. "Employers must make sure they take into account their employee's physical ability to undertake a job and must be prepared to make allowances," stated Peter Magee from Thompsons Solicitors
