This cover is a legal liability indemnity similar to a public liability or professional indemnity contract but protects the individual directors and officers of the company.

Under statute law there is an ever-increasing number of duties and responsibilities imposed. This type of policy covers unspecified directors and officers for:

• claims by shareholders, employees, creditors, customers, competitors, regulators and other third parties
• civil or criminal defence costs
• legal representation expenses
• damages, judgments and settlements

Some policies can be extended to insure the company itself against these risks.
